The Closet

"Start somewhere; start small. Pick one room to tackle. There are no mistakes that can't be undone."
Annette Tatum, textile designer/author

I think I have put off tackling my closet for the past, well, the whole time we've lived in our new house. Since we moved in, my closet has been the "Oh, I don't know what to do with this item, hmmmm, I'll just throw it in my closet for now"....you can imagine what it looks like now? Well, it did look "That bad" yesterday, but I finally got off my lazy rump and started in on pulling everything out, purging unwanted items, and am now deciding how I want it organized. At this moment, I'm waiting to be inspired, because I want every room in our home to be loved. Yes, even the lowly closet.

I am in love with the rainbow. Greens, yellows, reds, blues, oranges, all together, it's magic for my eyes!

The wall paper in this one is so sweet, and I love the few accents of red

All I can say is where can I find some of these hangers?!
Reminds me of a giant lolly pop :)

Bright and white! That turquoise chandelier is pretty too

I can't wrap my mind around it, but I love this picture. What stands out to me is the majority of earth colored clothing. Her shoes are neat too...

A collection of colorful necklaces and other various jewelry is so captivating. This is a simple display, but it grabs your attention, no?

The bird! Precious lil framed art, and the stool, and everything else, I really like this set up

What a light, airy mess. I love it! It's bunched and scattered, but I think it would be fun to get dressed in this room. Beautiful.

This last room caught me by surprise - love how this lady thought way outside the typical set-up box!

I'm working diligently towards a rewarding result in my personal closet, and will post pictures of the finished space, hopefully in the next couple weeks..... emphasis on the hopefully!

Thanks for checking out my closet inspiration  :)

Vintage Nursery Fun!

Don't you just love vintage & retro decor?

I can't pinpoint the exact time, but a few years back I fell in love with old toys and art, and it's become a part of who I am.

The room that seems to attract the majority of vintage finds is the nursery

The crib was a hand-me-down from a lady in Boise, ID, and has traveled with us and housed each of our sweet babies. When we moved to San Antonio, I didn't want it to be the orangy brown wood finish that it was, so, I painted it this light gray with a hint of green.

The only thing I'm really disappointed in was my choice of wall colors... WAY too dark for a small room!
That's part of the learning process though, making mistakes and expanding my interior do's and dont's.

The changing table and rocking chair are vintage, from an Estate Sale in Toledo 4 years ago.

Isn't the lamp adorable?? A fave of mine! Found it in Toledo a few years ago while antiquing with my friend, Lindsay; she convinced me to make the purchase, so glad she did! Thanks Linz :)

The shade isn't original, snagged this burlap one from Target

You know the " Only buy what you love" decorating advice? Well, I've done my best to stick with that, and this print at Hobby Lobby was definitely a love!
At the time of purchase, my son and daughter looked right about the ages of the two children, so it was special to me

On one of my many garage saling days, I saw an old board game for children, the box cover was so precious I had to have it to DIY into something for the kid's future nursery... and almost a year later, here it is

Etsy.com never ceases to amaze me! Any time I'm looking for a specific item, it almost always has what I'm looking for.

Before Capri was born, I wanted a vintage crib mobile to go with the neutral colors, and this wood & metal, hand-painted piece was perfect... from the 1970's and mint condition at that!

Etsy.com, yet again. Wanted an old children's clock too  :)

The spotted Scottie in the background is from Hobby Lobby, thought he fitted right in with the old school style

My sister Amber loves to make pottery, and her piggy banks are her signature item. She made one for Jubalee when she was born, and made it a tradition for our growing family. These sweet piggies are Tremain and Capri's... already filling up with $$  :)

The metal letter signs are from Hobby Lobby - I love that store!

In the near future I think I'm going to tackle the walls and ceiling with a fresh, bright color of paint.  Of course I will post some pics when that project is finished.

Thanks for checking out the nursery, feel free to post a comment or two,

Happy decorating!

Real Comfort!

Ok, I can honestly say, I didn't want to leave.

Aaron had a work day with some guys from church at the "Pot O Gold Ranch" (haha, name is kinda funny) on Saturday, and I didn't want to be away from him on his day off, so, the kid's and I piled into the Sienna and off we drove for the 1 hour drive. The ranch is located outside a small town named Comfort

I must admit, my main reason for going was to check out the antique shops :)

After seeing Aaron for lunch, the kid's and I headed to the town for some shoppin'!

It was a pleasant trip. The kid's never cease to amaze me at how well they shop along side me, I'm so blessed with sweet, happy lil tikes!

Every shop was unique...

And this one was our favorite, I the store, and the kids LOVED the shop owner's Pugs, Hudson & Molly :)

They shared the cutest "Home" I'd ever seen! Along with vintage iron beds, sofa, rocking chair, vanity, and all the sweetest mini decor you'd ever see in one spot! We'll definitely be back to pay them a visit.

Aaron met up with us in town after he was finished with work, and we continued to stroll through 7th street...  Our biggest regret of the trip was that it came to 5pm and the shops closed. We then headed to the town park and enjoyed some good ol' fashioned, wood and metal playground play time, complete with steep all metal Slide, wood plank Seesaws, and high chain link Swings!

Referring to the title of my post, the town was true to it's name, it was a real comfort to spend the day there and be reminded of the simple things in life, and how they really are, the best.

It is now our favorite spot, we'll be going back as soon as possible :)

Date Night!

The hubby and I went on a date last night. Five Guys Burger & Fries for din, amazing eats as always!

then we went to see The Vow...

I had been anticipating going to watch it, and wasn't disappointed, Aaron and I both loved it. Excellent story!

Afterwards, I grabbed a Starbucks shaken ice tea lemonade and he some Maple Bacon ice cream, yum!
Nothing better than a care-free outing with your best friend :)
