Our Christmas in Denver

My husband's profession brought our family to Colorado for 3 months. That began the end of September, so we are approaching the close of this lil "Vacation". Now that it's Christmas season, our family set up a festive corner of the apartment to make it feel like a piece of home, away from our Texas home.

Here are a few pics of the decorations along with our lil tree that he set up for me. I think I'm more excited about Christmas morning than the kids are! I taught them this morning that the saying from Jesus truly is true, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." :) As their mommy, I'm becoming extremely impatient for the big day to arrive, so that I can enjoy the sheer joy of watching them open their gifts!

Merry Christmas to you all.

Capri's 3rd Birthday :)

For those of you who are interested, I wanted to post something about our third child's special bday celebration. Nothing super fancy, no guests, just our little family together at home. She has shown a huge interest in cats over the past yr, and it's quickly growing into an obsession! Of course, Hello Kitty has made her way into the mix of the love of "Kitty Cats" :)

For a few weeks now, I have been planning on building her a little cat cake.... and so, yesterday, I slaved away at making her the best kitty cat cake I could muster up. Let me tell ya, 3 hours later(yes, 3 hrs!), I finally finished it.... by the time I was done I didn't want to see or hear about cake and frosting for a very long time! haha  It was fun, but I need a break now.... next cake making, scheduled for November 2nd, for our fourth child's 1st bday, yay!

Enjoy these lil pics of our daughter and her sweet 3rd birthday. We love her so much and thank the God who blessed us with her crazy presence.  Love you Capri!

These two cakes were my inspiration for mine.

Bathroom Design: Antique Industrial

It has taken me 3 years to finally tackle one of our 3 bathrooms. All that set aside, I did it... with the help of my amazing hubby! :) There's still a couple things I'd like to perfect/add, but for now, it's finished!  My design goal was for the room to have an Antique Industrial look and feel.

Here are the photos, enjoy!

BEFORE... with partially removed lower half wallpaper(green, gold and navy stripes)

AFTER....

Painted all the walls, 3 colors total: upper walls/ceiling is pure white, middle "unfinished" walls are a taupe, bottom walls are classic chalkboard paint. All decor is from the following: World Market, Hobby Lobby, garage sales, Anthropologie clearance, & we made the light ourselves.

For those of you who notice small details, you probably saw that there's no toilet roll holder mounted? I didn't have time to purchase the hardware for it yet, but this is what my hubby's going to make soon:

Saw this at our Local Coffee Shop and loved it!

My Christmas Gift... by far my favorite ever!

The husband surprised me with this for Christmas. I looked at it through Craigslist, but decided not to purchase it due to it being overpriced, in my thrifty opinion. But, he obviously remembered how much I loved it... so come Christmas morning, he had me walk out to the garage and take a peek at my present... I was just a tad excited :)

It's a vintage sideboard from Germany(so I was told), it's heavy duty quality, beautiful interior wood, and hand-painted with stencil all over the exterior(stating the obvious).

It houses all our movies, and is truly the statement piece of the room, I'm in love!
